Flowers planted to keep Scranton beautiful

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) It was a beautiful day to plant some flowers.

Mum’s the word in Scranton today as volunteers spent the day planting mums in and around courthouse square.

It was organized by Scranton Tomorrow, an organization that focuses on the downtown and keeping it beautiful.

The project coordinator says doing simple things like planting flowers can really help downtown Scranton.

“They’re so vital to improve the business districts, improve and help the businesses thrive,” said Elizabeth Baldi, project coordinator.

Around 50 people volunteered this afternoon.

Scranton Tomorrow worked with Penn State master gardeners in Lackawanna County to plant the mums.
