HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Independence Day weekend is one of the busiest times to travel, but you don’t have to leave home to have a good time!

People are flocking to First Friday in downtown Hazleton for the Fourth of July weekend festivities.

As many people pack their suitcases and take a roadtrip this weekend, there are a lot of activities on Broad Street that celebrate our nation’s independence.

A freedom of speech walking tour brought guests through the English and Spanish speaking media outlets in Hazleton.

Over at the Hazleton Art League, animal artwork adorned the gallery walls, and outside the studio, there were plenty of wagging tails for pet portraits.

The celebration in Hazleton continues on Monday with food, games, and live entertainment.  The fireworks launch at 9:45 p.m. near Cedar Street.
