PLYMOUTH, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One family member fighting cancer is hard enough. But a mother in Luzerne County is watching her fiance and daughter take on the same disease.
Toni Casterline is standing by her fiance’s side as he battles stage four lung cancer.
Paul Dunbar, Jr. was diagnosed with the disease in March, and then just three months later, Toni’s daughter, Cherokee Gallagher got the same devastating news.
The 28-year-old Plymouth woman is a single mom to three children. Supporters are organizing a fundraiser for the family, hoping the community will answer the call.
“You don’t want to sleep at night, and when that phone rings, it’s breathtaking because you don’t want to answer it,” said Toni. “You never know what’s going to be on the other line.”
The Smiles for Cherokee Bike Run is taking place on September 29th. The all-day event will have live entertainment, basket raffles, and activities for kids.
