MOUNT POCONO, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – There aren’t many fun attractions in the area for 3-year-old Ava. That’s why her father, Jordan Brandes of Long Pond, is excited a new rock climbing business came to town.
“Oh, it’s great. We don’t have a place like this in the area and we were really starving for one. And I think the kids are really going to benefit having something indoors that they can do active during the winter months especially,” says Brandes of Long Pond.
Pocono Rocks officially opened Thursday in downtown Mount Pocono.
“It’s very awesome and I love it!” says Cadence Bohdal.
The business features a rock climbing wall, warrior course, bounce houses, and a rope.
“I’m really thrilled and excited. Everyone seems to really enjoy everything. All the hard work paid off,” says Pocono Rocks co-owner Darien Bohdal.
Pocono Rocks is expected to do well, but local business owners downtown hope it brings some foot traffic to their stores as well.
“The cool thing about this place I think is it’s going to bring people who otherwise may never have come to Mount Pocono,” explains Mayor Fred Courtright of Mount Pocono.
Pocono Rocks co-owner Darien Bohdal hopes his business will attract tourists to the Borough.
“Everyone should benefit up and down the street here,” he adds.
