Family Feels Blessed to Be Chosen to Greet the Pope

A Philadelphia family says they are “blessed” after being chosen to welcome Pope Francis to the city later this month.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia chose the Bowes family to welcome the Pontiff when he arrives at the airport on September 26th.

The family learned they were selected during mass at their local church on Sunday.

The Archdiocese says the Bowes family has shown great faith through hard times.

Richard Bowes was a Philadelphia police officer when he was shot and wounded in the line of duty after his partner had been shot and killed.

The Bowes family says they are overwhelmed with this opportunity of a lifetime.

The Bowes will present Pope Francis with a Mountain Laurel, which is Pennsylvania’s State Flower
