(WBRE/ WYOU)- A local historical society is highlighting musical influencers that came right out of our area.

For the next six months you can check out the music exhibit at the Schuylkill County Historical Society in Pottsville. Everything from pictures of the third brigade band to the saxophone that Jack Strunk played with Les Brown are on display. The exhibit also showcases the historical pieces from the jazz scene and opera houses in Schuylkill Sounty. This exhibit goes all the way back to the 1800s.

“Life was a lot easier then. Even though it was a hard life but i think people really enjoyed their weekends and sitting in the seats and listening to this wonderful music,” Diana Prosymchak, Executive Director, Schuylkill County Historical Society said.

This is a changing exhibit so the historical society is encouraging people to come back to see more pieces.
The staff will swap out different items on display about every 3 to 4 weeks.
