East Stroudsburg University in Monroe County held it’s annual Veterans Day celebration this afternoon. A crowd recognized members of all military branches with speeches and song. They then walked to the campus’s WWI Memorial Statue for a wreath laying ceremony.
Local marine – Doug Douds – spoke at the event saying, “It is a chance for us to remember in the midst of all the daily concerns that we have– that it’s time for us to pause from time to time and remember what we are as a nation and what we aspire to be as a nation and part of that is the great sacrifices that were made to secure the freedoms that we enjoy every day.”
ESU has become a popular school for veterans. It recently opened a special center with services just for vets — and the place has already grown so much that school officials are planning to move it to a larger place.
