Elk Lake end-of-year water battle

News

DIMOCK TOWNSHIP, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) School is out! Many districts in our region are saying goodbye to their students as they head off for summer break.

Elk Lake School District has a unique way of saying bye. Buses line up outside the elementary and high school each school day. But the last day of school is the important for elementary students.

A water balloon battle breaks out each year. It’s a tradition each year as students leave the school.

“The teachers are there throwing water balloons and spraying us with hoses and we try and get them back with the water and that’s just fun,” said fourth grade student, Lilla Kerr.

The end of the year celebration started 23 years ago with students dumping water on a single teacher. The table has turned and now all elementary school teachers soak their students.
