CLARKS SUMMIT, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — You don’t have to be a Philadelphia Eagles fan to appreciate this story.
Eyewitness News first told you last January about a birds fan from Lackawanna County who went to the Super Bowl for a very special reason.
Phil DeSarno made the trip to Minnesota in honor of his dad who died five years ago.
Pasquale DeSarno was laid to rest wearing an Eagles sweatshirt, and Phil promised his father at the funeral that he wouldn’t miss the game.
Phil brought back a souvenir from the Super Bowl, which is proudly on display at Pasquale’s grave.
“Every time we go to visit him, I look down at that stone, and I know it’s what he wanted,” said Phil.
Phil said if the Eagles beat the Saints on Sunday, he’s confident enough to book a trip to Atlanta for Super Bowl 53.
