Discussion on climate change

PECKVILLE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) In recent years we have seen many tornadoes throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania.

With two EF1 tornadoes confirmed Wednesday. The question is being raised, is climate change to blame?

A discussion was held at Valley Community Library Thursday in Peckville. Organizations geared towards improving the environment gathered to discuss how climate change is impacting everyday life.

Advocates say with the earth warming, they believe there will be even more severe weather to come.

“We’ve always had thunderstorms in the summer but we’ve never had so many severe thunderstorms that has triggered so many watches and warnings,” said Kelly Flanigan of PennEnvironment, an organization near Philadelphia.
