Developing: Animal Remains Found in Pond by Griffin Pond Animal Shelter

(WBRE/WYOU-TV)  Investigators are on the scene at the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.

According to Elaine Geroulo, the President of the Griffin Pond Board, Shelter Officials on Thursday said an employee found a bag in the pond behind the shelter. Inside the bag, they found what appeared to be skeletal remains of dogs and cats.
Police and the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s office are investigating.
In a press Release, Geroulo said

“Griffin Pond has strict policies governing the euthanasia of animals, in the event, it is necessary, which include the process occurring at a veterinarian office with remains to be disposed of in a dignified and humane manner.  By no means, are the remains found today a result of the actions of employees who adhere strictly to our Board’s current policy.”
