Dealing with the First Snow in Lackawanna County

News

MOSCOW, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) It has been a messy afternoon on the roads

Snow has been falling for several hours now and it is already beginning to pile up

Eyewitness News reporter Eric Deabill brought us the live update from Lackawanna County at 5 pm

Even before the first flakes started to fall…. school districts across northeastern Pennsylvania started calling for early dismissals. At Frances Willard Elementary in West Scranton kids got out of class at 11:30. And parents were happy administrators erred on the side of caution.

) “If they get to be safe and not have to worry about snowdrop offs, I’m okay with that. I’d rather pick them up when there’s no snow on the ground than slide into it….” said Molly Boswell.

Shortly after the elementary schools in Scranton let out — it was the intermediate and high schools turn. Many adults say seeing a plowable snowstorm before Thanksgiving — isn’t something they like.

“I am not looking forward to the snow yet. It is way too early for this and too cold. I miss the last couple of years when it’s been in the 70s until almost Christmas!” said Katrina Haverly.

As for the kids who got out early…. they didn’t seem to mind one bit.
