PHILADELPHIA (WBRE/WYOU) The Democratic National Convention officially underway in Philadelphia.
Senator Bernie Sanders set to speak Monday night.
Sanders’ supporters are upset, and protesting in Philly.
Many backers of the former presidential contender feel burned by their party after it was revealed in leaked e-mails that democratic party officials were conspiring to sabotage Sander’s campaign.
Leaders are hoping to put the controversy behind them after Debbie Wasserman Schultz steps down.
Wasserman, a congresswoman from Florida appeared at the state’s delegation breakfast this morning.
This comes on the heels on Wasserman announcing her resignation as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.
Those who have known her for a long time say she is being treated unfairly.
But say- the party more than ever needs to rally around its platform of hope.
It was announced earlier this morning that that breakfast that Hillary Clinton will be campaigning in Scranton in August with Vice-President Joe Biden.
She will not be the only presidential nominee campaigning in Scranton..
Donald Trump announced on Friday that he will be in the area on Wednesday
The two presidential candidates will be rallying in North Carolina today.
Republican nominee Donald Trump along with his running mate Governor Mike Pence will be in Winston-Salem.
They will hold an event at the fairgrounds there.
And presumptive democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will be in Charlotte.
She will speak at the veterans of foreign wars of the US National Convention.
