LOYALSOCK TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Pennsylvania State Police say on Sunday, they located the person who allegedly locked a malnourished dog in a crate and left it in the bitter cold over the weekend.

On February 3, state police say they were called to the Hobby Lobby in the 1900 block of Third Street, Loyalsock Township, for a dog found outside.

While investigating the situation, troopers say they learned the dog belonged to 24-year-old Miranda Waldman. During an interview, police say Waldman admitted to being the owner and abandoning the dog.

Troopers said the long-haired German Shephard was found in a crate with dog food on top of it. They said it is unclear how long the dog was there.

As stated in the state police report, the dog was taken to the Lycoming County SPCA shelter.

Given the dog’s overall condition and the fact they were left outside in frigid temperatures, troopers say Waldman will face animal cruelty charges.
