KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — There was a heavy police presence at the First Hospital in Kingston Saturday evening for a reported riot.

According to Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce, a small altercation involving juveniles broke out inside the hospital around 7:15 p.m.

At 8:25 p.m. police were called for the incident when the situation developed into what the DA calls a “full-blown riot.”

Kingston police responded with backup from the neighboring police departments, state police, and the DA’s office.

Eyewitness News saw nine EMS vehicles surrounding the area and what appeared to be two juveniles taken away in handcuffs.

There were five people transported to the hospital for injuries not life-threatening. Some of it was head trauma. Two of them were staff members. Three of them were, in fact, patients so at this point the situation is under control.”
