(WBRE/WYOU-TV) Signatures on credit card receipts officially end today.
You will no longer have to sign on the dotted line when you use your credit card to authenticate in-store purchases.
The change goes into effect today for major credit card companies including American Express, Mastercard, and Discover with Visa flipping the switch later this month.
While credit card companies are ending the signature requirement, the change is optional.
It will ultimately be up to stores to decide whether or not to eliminate them completely.
Some stores like Walmart and Target will stop collecting signatures later this month.
The measure is sure to speed up checkouts.
