WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – One man was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a car on a busy road in Wilkes-Barre.

It happened just after 11 this afternoon.  Police say a man was walking across the intersection at Wilkes-Barre Blvd. and East Northampton Street when a silver colored car hit him.

The man was taken to the hospital.  Eyewitness News spoke with someone who witnessed the horrific crash.

“He went flying in that air, he must have went up 60 feet in the air, did two 360’s in the air and came down and landed head first.  He snapped his leg in half.  Pretty big blood loss, I feel so sorry for him,” says Shawn Smith.

Police closed the intersection to traffic for some time as they worked to reconstruct the crash.  No word yet on if any charges will be filed.
