SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)   Democratic Representative Matt Cartwright is heading back to Washington for a third term.

A cheering crowd greeted The 17th district congressman as he arrived last night at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in Scranton.

He declared victory over Republican challenger Matt Connolly of Bethlehem.
Cartwright said his first order of business in his new term is to make his constituents from northeastern Pennsylvania proud.
 
“As long as the voters send me to Washington, I’m going to work as hard as ever I can to make them look good in front of the nation and to further our priorities including getting good jobs back here in our area.” Congressman Cartwright told Eyewitness News Reporter Mark Hiller
 
Cartwright said he will use his clout as a recently appointed member of the House Appropriations Committee to benefit the 17th District.
