PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Tuesday morning Pennsylvania American Water issued a boil water advisory for part of Plains Township.
The utility says the area affected applies to customers along East Mountain Drive, Baltimore Drive and Wildflower Drive.
The company says the order was issued when a loss in positive water pressure due to low tank levels was identified Monday.
That loss of pressure could allow contamination to enter the distribution through backflows of pipes. That it says could resulte in the presence of disease-causing organizations.
The company says drinkng water should be boiled for at least one minute then cooled. The water should be boiled if you plan to drink, make ice, wash dishes, brush your teen for for food preparation.
