TOBYHANNA TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Two big rigs tangled early Thursday in Monroe County, and the result shut down Interstate 80 near Tobyhanna Township.
The accident happened in the eastbound lanes of the freeway near mile marker 285 about 4:30 a.m..
Authorities say a truck hauling an oversized load flipped over. Another big rig behind it tried to avoid the accident, and also ended up crashing.
There were some minor injuries, but nothing too serious.
By 7:30 a.m. traffic had reopened with one lane, but traffic was backed up to nearly the Blakeslee exit.
