BRIAR CREEK TOWNSHIP, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A long-awaited project is now a reality in the Berwick community.

The Teen Center officially opened its doors Wednesday night with a special ribbon cutting ceremony.

The newly renovated facility is a safe place for students to stop by after school to play games, do their homework, even grab a snack at the cafe — all free of charge.

Director Teresa Peters said the non-profit organization For The Cause secured grants to purchase the building in Briar Creek Township.

She said the Teen Center should help keep kids off the streets in Columbia County.

“Grab those kids that might be on the borderline, get them involved, get them engaged, get them to give back to the community as well!” said Peters.

The Teen Center is open weekdays after school and Saturday afternoons.
