HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) They are called “The Beads of Courage” and they are designed to help inspire children who are facing serious health challenges.
The program brings together first responders from throughout our region .To let the kids and their families know they are not going it alone.
The I-Team”s Andy Mehalshick has our story from Hazleton..
They are small and very simple..but they are packed with love and inspiration..they are called “the beads of courage”. The Palermo Heart to Heart foundation based in Hazleton began the project last year…
The first responders wear a bead on their uniform while on duty. Those beads are then given to a sick child along with a handwritten note from the man or woman who wore it. Inspiration for children undergoing some – often times – tough medical treatments.
Eyewitness News is a proud supporter of the beads of courage project. And once again Andy Mehalshick was honored to help launch the project into its second year…
