Barber gives free haircuts to help family of fire victims

News

LAFLIN, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Luzerne County business owner is doing his part to help out after three brothers died in a fire.

Preston Bonnett is accused of setting that fire in Laflin that killed 16-year-old Erik Dupree, 12-year-old Devon Major, and 7-year-old Ezekiel Major.

Kevin Uren lives in the neighborhood and recently opened his own barber shop on Main Street.

He decided to offer free hair cuts as a fundraiser for the family.  The barber is asking his patrons to pay it forward by making a donation to the American Red Cross.

“I didn’t have that much growing up, and now I’m a little better off, doing pretty well for myself, so I just want to give back!” said Uren.

Uren told Eyewitness News that he raised a few hundred dollars so far.  He will be cutting hair for free next Sunday and Monday.

You can call (570) 704-6542 and schedule an appointment or just walk into Kevin’s Barber Shop in Laflin.
