Bank Robber Takes off in Woods

HUGHESTOWN, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Police are searching for a man, who they say, robbed the M & T Bank in Hughestown.

The incident occurred around 2:45 this afternoon when an unidentified male approached a teller and demanded money in the cash drawer. Police say no weapon was brandished or threatened during the robbery.

The suspect then ran out of the bank, through the rear parking lot and was last seen running into the woods directly across from the bank.

The man is described as a slender build, approximately 5 feet 5 inches in height, clean shaven with a dark complexion, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark framed sunglasses.

The police have not identified the amount of cash the suspect escaped with.

Hughestown Police, Duryea, Avoca, Pittston City, Pittston Township, Luzerne County Detectives Office, the Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI all responded to the scene.

The Hughestown Police along with the Pennsylvania State Police and FBI are investigating the incident.
