Whether you’re a local or a tourist, one of the popular places to visit in Rio de Janeiro is Pier Maua.

“This area used to be neglected for quite awhile, for many decades, and the past ten years, more or less  it has been refurbished.” Said Leonardo Menezes, Content Manager, Museum of Tomorrow

Now it’s a place with new buildings, new museums, new cultural attractions…A place visited by more than half a million people last year.

“And all that without sending the people that live here in the area away. The population is staying there, so that’s very important.” Said Menezes

Pier Maua has also won awards…Seven years in a row…2009 to 2015…Travel weekly named it the best cruise port of South America.

“this is a new area of the downtown that has been quite overpopulated by events and cultural activities. People are coming back to the downtown area to enjoy a nice place and a historical place.” said Menezes
