Art through a student’s eyes

News

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Students are showing off their talents at the Pocono Art Council Student Art Exhibition.

“In the age of budget cuts in art classes, one way that we can support students and keep them painting, keep them drawling, keep them taking photographs is to offer them things like this throughout the year,” Susan Randall, executive director of the Pocono Arts Council, said.

The Student Art Exhibition has everything from photography, pottery, and even digital work. Participating in the exhibition is an inspiration for young artists.

“To see that somebody else who is outside of the class, their prospective and they think this is good enough to win first place, it really boosts my confidence,” Pocono Mountain East Junior Melinda Alexander said.

The exhibition opens to the public Friday at 4pm. The art will remain on display until February 23rd.
