BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) The Bloomsburg Fair 161st Edition is right around the corner. Today the fair held its annual media day and Eyewitness News Reporter Cody Butler was there.
You don’t typically see the ‘Bloomsburg fairground’ this bare – but it’s the calm before the storm.
And Wednesday fair president Paul Reichart and the board told Eyewitness News the forecast for what fair goers can expect.
“It’s kind of exciting to see this convert from flat ground, nothing here, to a little big fair.” Said Reichart
Nothing has started yet.. but starting this Saturday..
Your typical vendors will fill the grounds here then when it kicks off on the 23rd they will be surrounded by new entertaining acts – like country star Jake Owen – along with other artists.
You can also expect..
Poultry is back!
This chicken joke stand will live near the poultry barn for some to laugh.
History will be made – as an ‘Amish Barn Raising’ will take place during fair week.
Piles of 1800’s wood from the Columbia County’s poor farm will be assembled into a new barn on the fairgrounds near the historical Barton house.
“Items in there that might be educational to some people.” noted Reichart
Other events that are sure to grab your attention are the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean high dive show’ and ‘Dock Dogs.’
If you’re planning to come back to watch either of the shows or just to visit again – the board announced they will be offering a 35-dollar ‘weekly pass’ for the first time.
“A lot of people come in for lunch or dinner, so we are hoping it’s going to help us at the gates as well as help the vendors at their stands.” said Jeff Turner, Superintendent of Ticket Collections
The Fair kicks off September 23 through October 1. Eyewitness News will be there throughout the week.
