MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) What started as a beef over a barking dog , ended with the SPCA removing a mastiff dog and a rabbit from a shed in the Pocono Farms East Development near Tobyhanna.

An officer with the SPCA responded on Friday to the property along Lewis Crown drive. there were complaints about a barking dog being left in the shed for days without care.

When the officer arrived– he noticed a strong smell of urine and feces coming from the shed and no one home.

The officer returned with a warrant and was able to remove the animals.

Neighbors say the residents left the home months ago and a caretaker was checking on the animals once a week– but at some point the care stopped.

The SPCA says the investigation is ongoing and couldn’t release the condition of the dog and rabbit.
