Angelo Ricci, local pizza shop owner, dies at 87

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) A beloved pizza man passed away Wednesday. 

Angelo Ricci died at the age of 87. In his lifetime he built a succesful busines in Wilkes-Barre. His children and now grandchildren continue to carry on his legacy. Ricci started back in 1960’s crafting his pizza. He settled Angelo’s Pizzeria on Hazle Street. 

Both of his children opened up their own pizza shops in the city. In 2011 he sold the orginal pizzeria to his grandson. 

“He always smiled, he helped anybody possible. He was a great man, great grandfather and father,” said William Ricci, Owner of Angelo’s Pizza. 

“His care, his love, his little pizza hat his apron. He was just cool with the people he just loved everybody,” said Brian Ricci, Angelo’s Grandson. 

The Ricci family is holding a viewing on Sunday at the McLaughlin funeral home in Wilkes-Barre. The funeral will be held on Monday. 

The family tells us the times have not been determined.
