An Explosive Donation

Scranton, Lackawanna County – An area police department just received an explosive donation.  Scranton-based manufacturer “Inert Products” donated $5,000 worth of explosives to the Scranton Police Department’s Hazardous Device And Explosive Unit.  It will be used for training purposes.

The business presented the donation Wednesday morning at the former Army Reserve Center.  Director of Operations for Inert Products, Dean Klipple, says “there are a million ways to make these devices, so being able to constantly refresh that training and keeping it real to today and what’s happening in today’s world is key.”

The company laid out the training products Wednesday, including non-explosive bombs and IEDs, training posters, and fake drugs like heroin and a mobile meth lab.  Although the hazardous device and explosive unit is based in Scranton they cover most of northeastern Pennsylvania.
