PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MARYLAND (WBRE/WYOU) An “all clear” has been given after an active shooter report locked down joint base Andrews just outside Washington D.C.. Authorities say, this could be a drill that became misunderstood.
Reports came in around 9 this morning about an active shooter in a medical building on the base.
There was a scheduled active shooter drill on the base this morning.
Throughout the morning, the base said there were real world shooting threats on the base.
But they never confirmed there was an active shooter.
Extra security officers are on high alert at airports nationwide as we head into the holiday weekend.
Heavily armed officers and k-9 units are patrolling Miami international airport, preparing for a bump in passengers heading in or out of town for the Fourth of July.
Tuesday’s deadly attack on Istanbul’s airport is also a concern for some passengers.

Turkey’s state-run news agency says police have detained 13 people in connection to the deadly attack on Istanbul’s airport.
This after police conducted a series of raids at 16 locations in the city today.
Authorities are blaming Isis for Tuesday’s coordinated attack on the Istanbul airport, but there has been no official claim on responsibility.
Forty-two people were killed and more than 200 injured in the attack.
