MONTGOMERY, LYCOMING COUNTY(WBRE/WYOU-TV) – Tonight yet another incident of a former police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman.

The time the allegations come in Lycoming County. The investigation has been going on since July of 2018.

69 year old Laurence Wilcox was until recently a member of the Montgomery Borough police department.

He was arrested this morning by the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Unit and United Stated Marshals.

According to State Police, Wilcox was arraigned this morning on attempted rape, attempted sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault charges.

The vitcim reported that Wilcox, a former Montgomery Borough police officer, had attempted to rape her on July 6th.

When Wilcox was taking her home from the American Legion in Montgomery, the victim says he came inside of her home and began touching her innapropriately.

She stated she continously was telling him no, but Wilcox would not stop.

The Montgomery Borough Police Department released a statement which says once it learned of the allegations, Wilcox was placed on indefinite leave.

It concludes, “He has not worked for the Police Department since such time. Mr. Wilcox resigned as an Officer for Montgomery Borough on August 2, 2018.”

Wilcox’s bail is set at 75-thousand dollars.

He remains in the Lycoming County Prison.
