LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) On Friday, local cyber students got to experience Panamanian culture first hand.
Students from PA Charter School headed to Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre to meet with public school teachers from Panama. The teachers worked with students by teaching mini lessons on their country’s geography, culture, and even traditional dance.
Those who took part in the event say it was an immersive experience for the students.
“They’re teaching our students cultural differences, showing us what their coins look like, how they differ from ours, showing us their flag, and one thing we learned: they’ve never seen snow!” said Sherri Tate, Executive Director Human Resources, Marketing and Enrollment at PA Virtual Charter School.
PA Virtual hosts regional events every Friday throughout the Commonwealth to give students the opportunity to socialize with their classmates outside of the virtual classroom.
