JACKSON TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – A local family is hitting the road this summer with their new food truck. It’s not delivery, it’s mobile. If you thought food trucks were a thing for state fairs and big cities, think again. A Middle Smithfield Township family recently started their own food truck which is something new for the area. Jason Mihalik has worked in the food industry for 12 years before starting his “Casacullinarian” blog. The blog grew into a catering company that he is now taking on the road along with his food truck he named “The Underground”.

Mihalik said, “We were looking at opening a restaurant and I just didn’t want to take a gamble being in one spot and the food truck business is pretty hot right now”.

The Underground food truck debuted at Mountain View Vineyard, Winery & Distillery in Jackson Township.

Sarah Ruggiero of the Mountain View Vineyard, Winery & Destillery told us, “We had some people come down for tastings because they actually saw on their page that they were going to be here, so they came and did some tastings with us.”

In addition to wineries, they’re hoping to get their food truck packed and on the road to different parts of the community. You can catch The Underground food truck at the Mountain View Vineyard in Jackson Township this holiday weekend.
