2019 Teacher of the Year honored by Congressman Cartwright

SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Make it three straight years our region is recognized for having some of the best educators anywhere.

An Abington Heights High School teacher was recognized Friday for becoming the 2019 teacher of the year.

Marilyn Pryle was one of 12 finalists. She found out that she was the chosen one back in December. Pryle is being honored by Congressman Matt Cartwright.

Surrounded by students and fellow teachers Rep. Cartwright presented the 10th grade teacher with a Congressional Record.

It’s a year-long process with teachers from more than 500 school districts in the state participating.

In the classroom Mrs. Pryle tries to convey a sense of engagement making sure her students are connecting with the material she teaches. Her world literature students sense that.

“It’s completely thrilling. I am so honored. The thought of being in a Congressional Record is just amazing life long kind of thing,” said Pryle.

As teacher of the year Pryle will travel across Pennsylvania sharing her success in education.
