Williams Companies, Inc., through the Williams Foundation Fund at the Tulsa Community Foundation, has awarded Lackawanna College with a $20,000 grant to be directed towards scholarships for students in the School of Petroleum and Natural Gas (PNG).
“Williams is pleased to make this investment in Lackawanna College and its students. We’re thankful for the college’s commitment to preparing students for the real-world jobs needed in the energy industry,” said Jack Walsh, the general manager for Williams’ operations in northeast Pennsylvania.
Williams is a premier energy infrastructure company that provides clean-burning natural gas to heat homes and generate electricity. The partnership between the School of PNG and Williams provides a vital connection between education and industry that allows students to succeed and advance in the oil and gas field.
“Williams has been, and continues to be, among the strongest advocates of our students, our College, and our programs. Their investment ensures the continued availability of locally educated men and women to serve in this dynamic and impactful industry. We are honored to have earned their trust and support,” said Lackawanna College President Mark Volk.
For 125 years, Lackawanna College has dedicated itself to serving the needs of the local community and providing students with an accessible, affordable path to a degree. The School of PNG offers nationally recognized associate degree programs in technology and business administration. Major exploration and production, midstream and pipeline companies including but not limited to Williams hire 93 percent of Lackawanna’s graduates from the School of PNG.
“The School of Petroleum and Natural Gas is privileged to have the continued support of Williams. This grant will bring education to many local students as they pursue careers in the production and delivery of America’s energy,” said Jeannine McKnight, the program director for the Lackawanna College School of PNG.
