Dungeons and Dragons Role Playing Game

The Climate Crisis: Taking Global and Local Action 

Tuesday, April 9 – 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm 

Learn about the climate crisis in a presentation and workshop by Dr. Sandy Field from Climate Reality Project and Dr. Mick Smyer from Graying Green. Dr. Field discusses the impacts of the climate crisis, the progress being made in the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, and how Americans can take action at the local, state, and national level. Dr. Mick Smyer helps you move from anxiety to action to habit on climate issues in this interactive workshop. The Human Library

Celebrate National Library Week by learning about people in your strong community. Visit the human library where books are humans, and their lives are stories that inspire. Readers are invited to check out a human book and engage in a dialogue to educate and challenge personal biases and prejudices. Make a 3D Plant Marker

Spruce up your plants with a 3D plant marker! Create your own plant marker using tinkercad.com. Literary Adventures - Book Talk with Caz Russell

Join Caz Russell, certified John Maxwell Leadership speaker, in discussion of The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Caz speaks both nationally and internationally on leadership principles, provides book studies and workshops on how to become both successful and to live a life of significance. Master Gardener: Learn How to Grow Strawberries!

Baby Discover 

Friday, April 5, 12, 19 & 26 - 11:00 am – 12:00 pm 

Stories, nursery rhymes and finger plays for babies up to one year old and their parents or caregivers. Young toddlers are also welcomed. Toddler Discover

Preschool Discover 

Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 & 30 – 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Sensory Night 

Thursday, April 4 – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm 

Meets the 1st Thursday of each month 

This event includes stations and activities for children with sensory issues and their caregivers to explore and enjoy in a non-threatening environment. Resource materials are available. Lego Night 

Thursday, April 11 – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm 

Meets the 2nd Thursday of each month 

Whether you're a great Lego builder or a first timer, this is the place for you! Work on your own creation or build together as a team. The library provides the Legos, while the kids provide the imagination. All materials must stay at the library, so bring a camera to capture your creations, which are displayed in the library until the next Lego night. Lego club meets the 2nd Thursday of every month. No registration required. 

 

Beginning ASL 

Thursday, April 18 – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm 

Meets every 3rd Thursday of each month 

Learn and practice basic beginner ASL (American Sign Language) for children 5-12 years old. This class builds on the previous week's instruction, so regular attendance is encouraged. Register to attend by calling 570-523-1172, visiting the library or registering online. 

 

Earth Day Program

Learn to crochet! Bring your own size 7, 8, or 9 crochet hook. We have a good supply of yarn available at the library. Shari Jacobson, PhD of Susquehanna University, speaks about Gun sense, focusing on how to keep our families and communities safe from gun violence. Discover  

Tuesdays, 10:30 am 

Discover is a preschool story time for children up to age 5 along with a parent or grandparent. This program has a weekly theme with read-aloud stories, age-appropriate activities and crafts, musical instruments and songs. Adults are offered a take-home paper with theme-related crafts, rhymes, snacks, and suggested "getting ready for kindergarten" activities. This program is provided in partnership with the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way. Register to attend by visiting the library, calling 570-922-4773 or registering online. 

 

Craft of the Month: Bunny Basket 

April 1 – April 30 

Drop in during library business hours 

Hop into spring at the Library! Make a Bunny basket out of a paper lunch bag to put your sweets in. Keep it for yourself or give as a gift to a friend. Available until supplies run out and no registration is required. 

 

LEGOs, Blocks and other Fun Toys 

Thursday, April 11 – 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm 

Held on the second Thursday of each month

Robotics Club for Kids 

Saturday, April 20 - 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm 

Connect to the world of coding and robotics with our user friendly interactive robots. Try the Ozobots, or meet R2-D2, BB-8 and BB-9E from Star Wars! Race Sphero around the room or have fun playing with Dash and Dot. For ages 8 and up.
