*Two Christmas Concerts by Choral Arts of Luzerne County-Performances will  be held on, Saturday, December 14th at 7:30 pm. at St. Stephen's Pro-Cathedral, 35 S. Franklin Street in Wilkes-Barre and Sunday, December 15th at 3:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 210 W Green St, Hazleton. For both concerts, tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at the door, but may also be purchased in advance from chorus members, or by sending a check payable to "Choral Arts of Luzerne County", and mailed to: 190 South Sprague Avenue, Kingston, PA 18704. A CHRISTMAS CAROL- Original musical by Kevin Costley and Ted Anderson based on Dickens’ classic story. Dec. 12 to 15 and 19 to 22. *The 20th Annual Performance of "The Gift" presented by the Back Mountain Harvest Assembly.  Many families have made it their tradition to bundle up, bring some blankets and grab a cup of hot chocolate while they watch "The Gift".  Bach & Handel Chorale Christmas concert will be held Saturday, December 14, at 3pm  at St. John’s Lutheran church, 106 West Main St., Ringtown
free-will offering.

A Living Nativity will come to life for the 16th year at the Clarks Green Assembly of God church on Saturday, December 14th from 7pm until 9pm . On the lawn there will be a live cast in the stable with sheep, llamas and more while in the fellowship hall there will be home baked cookies and warm beverages by the fireplace.  All are invited to come to the stable to experience what the first Christmas might have been like.  Come to 204 S. Abington Road, Clarks Green, PA to enjoy this free gift to our community.
 Come out for a night full of fun, dancing and games at Luzerne County Community College’s Student Night on Saturday, December 14, 2013. All proceeds from this event will go directly to Make-A-Wish to help grant the wish of a local Luzerne County wish child.
The event will begin on Saturday night at 8 p.m. and lasts until 6 a.m. the following morning at the LCCC Gymnasium on 1333 South Prospect Street in Nanticoke, PA 18634. There will be an all-night dance party with various DJs, food, raffles, pie eating contest, games, and much more.

*The Jessup Art Loop, a local art walk based on Church Street in Jessup on the second Saturday of each month, has something for everyone this Christmas season!  From hand painted wine glasses at Capra Collina Winery to Santa Clause at The Caverna, The Jessup Art Loop artisans have you covered. The December Loop will be held Saturday, December 14, from 1:00-6:00 pm.
Providence Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 325 Market Street, Mifflinburg PA invites the public to a free presentation, “Joy to the World!  The Beauties of Advent and Christmas Hymnody” on Saturday, December 14 at 3:00 p.m. Pianist Timothy Shafer is the chair of the piano department at Penn State University.  Lou Ann Shafer is the founder and artistic director of the Nittany Valley Children’s Choir. They will demonstrate how theology, history, poetry and music have interacted to create some of the world’s most beloved Christmas carols.  The Shafers seek to renew understanding of the true meaning of the season and how music and poetry continue to tell the story.

*The Taylor Splash Park Committee is hosting a "Breakfast with Santa"  on Saturday, December 14th at Riverside High School between 9 AM and 12 Noon.  On the Menu: pancakes and sausage, juice, coffee, tea and other treats face painting/arts & crafts events/photo with Santa/ baskets raffle.  Tickets are $5 for children and $7 for adults

December 15, 2013
The O’Malley family will be hosting their annual free Children’s Christmas Party, December 15, 2013, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at the Keyser Valley Community Center, corner of Keyser Avenue and Jackson Street,
Children from preschool through the 5th grade are all welcome to the party.. 
Come and meet jolly Old St. Nick and D.J.-Jason Miller.  Party will consist of a picture with Santa, orange drink, Goodfella’s pizza, McDonald’s cheeseburger (Keyser Ave location only), candy cane, Krispy Kreme doughnut, bag of chips and a coupon to Texas Road House. 
*New Life Community Church, Celebrating two years in Hanover Township will host its second annual Christmas Concert  December 15, 2013, 10:30 am. The concert will Feature Tenor Gideon Gaitano and the New Life Community Church Singers. Be inspired with well known heart-warming Christmas ballads, soaring vocal music, contemporary Christmas songs, a men’s ensemble and a friendly group of people. The concert will be held at New Life Community Church Sanctuary, 301 Delaney Street, Hanover Twp.

Shop local!  On Sunday, December 15th The Cooperage Project will host it’s 2nd Annual Holiday Artisans’ Market located inside The Cooperage at 1030 Main Street in Honesdale, PA.  Stop by between the hours of 11:00am and 5:00pm to visit over two dozen talented regional artisans.
In addition to shopping local, there will be live music and product demonstrations throughout the day.  The Honesdale Interact Club will offer photos with Santa between 11:00 and 2:00pm.  A local caricature artist will be available to draw portraits.  The Anthill Farm Kitchen will be serving hot, farm to table snacks and meals.  Don’t want to wrap your own presents? *  Dr. Susan M. Featro will perform a concert of holiday music on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 2:30pm at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua. This concert is a benefit for the Tamaqua Community Arts Center and the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation, which funds special projects in the Tamaqua Area School District.

*The "Christmas in Conyngham" parade scheduled for Saturday, December 14 at 5 p.m.  has been rescheduled to Sunday, December 15 at 5 p.m.

* Due to the weather forecast on December 14,  
My Cup Runneth Over Christian Coffee House located at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wilkes-Barre is CANCELLED.
This Coffee House will resume in January, 2014.

*The Home For The Holidays Concert at Pocono Lake United Methodist Church  will be held on Saturday, December 21.  The concert will begin at 1 pm
 The concert was originally scheduled for 1 PM Saturday. December 14th but has been postponed and rescheduled due to the weather.  The church is located  four miles from the Blakeslee Corner and next to the Village Park Center on Route 940

Holy Spirit Lutheran Church's Ham or Chicken Pot Pie Dinner originally set for December 14 is postponed until January 11 due to the weather.  Join us in January for this meal.   : Holy Spirit Lutheran Church is located at 10275 State Route 44, Watsontown, Between McEwensville and Turbotville on Route 44.  Cost:  $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children, take outs available until gone.  There will also be a silent auction featuring two quilts

*The Tamaqua Middle School Music Department will present its annual “Holiday Music Program” on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the middle school sixth grade band and the middle school choruses.

*The Human Lard Dog Goes Acoustic! at The Cooperage--1030 Main Street, Honesdale, PA

The Ragtag Rutabagas invite you to join us at The Cooperage as we “dance our way into the new year!” Saturday, December 28th, is the last Contra Dance at The Cooperage of 2013! *The Harlem Wizards are coming to the Williamsport Area High School Magic Dome. The Wizards are scheduled to take the court at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, in a fundraiser benefit for the Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation. Tickets will go on Sale Monday, December 9. Tickets will be sold at $5 for students and $8 for general admission in advance; $6 for students and $10 for general admission at the gate.
Tickets go on sale beginning Monday, Dec. 9, and will be available at the following locations: Williamsport Area High School, 2990 West Fourth St.; the District Service Center, 2780 West Fourth St.; and the Genetti Hotel, 200 West Fourth St., which is sponsoring rooms for the Wizards the evening of the event.
* The Pine Run United Methodist Church choir will present a cantata titled “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year on Sunday, Dec. 22, during the 9 a.m. worship service. The church is at 1719 Pine Run Road, Linden, 1.7 miles north of Route 220
* The Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship is offering luminaria for use during the Advent and Christmas season at homes, businesses and churches.
  Kits containing five luminaria are available from TAFFN members, local church offices and the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce office at 114 West Broad Street, Tamaqua.
  Each kit contains assembly instructions and a history of luminaria.

*The Reyburn Bible Church will present a Live Nativity on Sunday,December 22nd from 6:00-8:30 p.m. in the parking lot across the street  from the church. You may view the nativity scene from the comfort of your car. There is no charge and all are welcome. The church is located at 77 Reyburn Road, Shickshinny. 
*  The Tamaqua Area School District athletic department is attempting to form a Tamaqua Area Athletic Alumni Association.  An organizational meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in Room 108 of the High School beginnng at 5:30. All former athletes, coaches, and Friends of TAHS Athletics are highly encouraged to attend this meeting.  The first 40 in attendance will receive a free Tamaqua Area HS thumb drive.
* Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Hospice and Grace Episcopal Church are co-sponsoring a “Blue Christmas” Service of Hope on Sunday, December 29th at 2:00 pm. The service is designed for people who “feel at odds with the feeling of joy and happiness that society expects this time of year,” such as those who have suffered a personal loss—the death of a loved one, a divorce, illness or the end of a job.  Grace Episcopal Church is located at the corner of Church and Ninth Streets in Honesdale.  For more information, call the Church at 570.253.2760.


January Events
* Safe Haven Pet Rescue will hold an adoption day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 51, at Tractor Supply, 2970 Route 940, Pocono Summit..
Safe Haven will have many young dogs available for you to meet and get to know. Safe Haven requires a pre-adoption application with references and a home visit prior to adoption.
* Safe Haven Pet Rescue will hold an adoption day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, at Tractor Supply, Rte. 209, Brodheadsville. Safe Haven Rescue needs volunteers to help with adoption days, fundraising, transporting dogs to vets and groomers and fostering homeless dogs until they find their forever homes. Help save homeless dogs

*St. Joseph Regional Academy will host its First Annual “Be Cool for Our School” Polar Plunge on Saturday, January 25 at Mauch Chunk Lake in Jim Thorpe. Registration is $35 and begins at 9:30 A.M. The first plunge starts at 11:00 A.M. All proceeds go towards operating costs for the school.
