Tickets Still Available for Tastes of Greater Hazleton This Sunday

Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20 at the door and are still available until Friday

The Community Awareness Committee of the Greater Hazleton of Commerce invites the public to attend the 6th Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton, which will be held this Sunday, October 20th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at the Hazleton Health & Wellness Center, 50 Moisey Drive in Hazleton.

 

Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20 at the door and are still available until Friday at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce office which is located at 20 West Broad Street in Downtown Hazleton. Their office hours are 8 am to 5 pm. Limited tickets will also be available at the door. Additional ticket locations include: Standard Speaker, Carmen’s Bakery & Deli, T. Verrastro Beer Distributor, Brass Buckle, Damon’s, Giant and John’s Church Hill Family Restaurant during normal business hours.

 
Two cooking demonstrations will take place beginning at 1 pm. Chef Chef Rob Hetherington from Leonard’s Fine Dining will start things off with the first demonstration, followed by Joe Capparell of Genetti’s Catering.

 

The event will feature a sampling of signature dishes and products from twenty-three participating restaurants and businesses from throughout Greater Hazleton. Samples will include: Applebee's providing won ton tacos; Basile Italian Restaurant providing stuffed cherry peppers, lasagna, meatballs and chicken marsala; Boscov's Family Restaurant providing sweet and sour meatballs; Brass Buckle providing buffalo chicken chimi and pork tacos with pinapple salsa; Carmen's Bakery & Deli providing pumpkin squares, carrot cake and pitza; Carmen's Country Inn & Gardens providing chicken cordon bleu bites & taco mac & cheese; Chef Buzz's Hole in the Wall providing sausage baked ziti, meatballs and mini chocolate covered cannoli; Cherasaros Deli & Catering @ Jeddo Stars providing mini pork cutlets; Coffee Service providing regular and decaffeinated coffee; Damon's Sports Bar & Grille providing baby back ricks, pulled pork sliders & homemade pototate chips; Edgewood Golf Course & Banquet Facility providing pulled pork sliders with five different sauces; Genetti Catering providing coconut chicken skewers and Italian wedding soup; Giant Foods providing pub burger sliders and Italian hoagies; John's Church Hill Family Restaurant providing ham barbeque sandwiches; McDonald's providing orange drink; Ovalon Restaurant providing fire grilled chicken skewers and fresh mozzarella pin wheels; Sam's Club providing pumpkin pie; Sand Springs Country Club providing bruschetta; Sonic Drive-In providing ice cream sundaes; T. Verrastro Beer Distributor providing seasonal and artisan craft beer and water; The Lookout House providing a savory signature dish; The Valley Country Club providing chicken francaise kabobs; Top of the 80's Restaurant providing sweet corn scallops in a white wine cream sauce, roasted brussel sprouts and homemade chocolate oatmeal cake with butter cream frosting.

 

Dooprizes have been donated by local restaurants and businesses. They include gift certificates, commemorative aprons provided by CTC Manufacturing, Inc., and a chance to win a 3 day, 2 night trip to any 2014 Carlisle Events Show in PA which includes event tickets for two, two night hotel stay, $50 gas card, $100 VISA card for meals - $1000 value, which is provided by T. Verrastro Beer Distributor and Heinekin. Verrastro’s will also have a 1935 Plymouth “Rat Rod” Heineken Hot Rod will be on display at the event.

 

The 2nd annual area schools apron decorating contest is sponsored by CTC Manufacturing, Inc and participating area high schools include Hazleton Area High School, MMI Preparatory School, Immanuel Christian School, Marion High School and Weatherly High School. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite apron, which will then, in turn, give them an opportunity for an extra doorprize chance. The school who receives the most votes will win a cash prize of a $100, second place will receive a $50 cash prize and third and fourth place will receive a $25 cash prize.

All proceeds from this event will benefit community projects coordinated by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.
