Shoppers Cash In On Gray Thursday Deals

A lot of stores opened earlier this year to lure shoppers in early
Wilkes-Barre Township, Luzerne County -After they were done turkey on Thanksgiving people didn't mind seem heading out to the stores in Wilkes-Barre Township to get some shopping done.

A handful of stores opened their doors early Thursday evening for "Gray Thursday".

Best Buy, at the Arena Hub Plaza, had a number of people looking to get in the doors when they opened at 6 o'clock.

"We were here since Wednesday at noon," Steven Radzwilla, a Hanover resident, said.

Radzwilla, along with two of his friends, were the first people in line.

"It's good McDonald's is open 24 hours," he said. "We stopped home to show the face a little at the Thanksgiving dinner table, but other than that we have been sleeping on the ground."

They were there to scoop up a television.

The Toys "R" Us on Kidder Street opened even earlier, at five o'clock. They had a line of people that wrapped around the store all night long.

Jennifer Yost, a Hazelton resident, said she had to wait 30 minutes to get into the store. However, she said it was worth it because she saved nearly $600.

"We got Disney Infinity and Swap Force for the Wii and the Xbox," she said.

Cathy Stephens, a Plymouth resident, liked the earlier hours. That's because she could shop longer. She told Eyewitness News she had a few stops planned after her stop at Toys "R" Us.

Jackie Washesky, a Kunkle resident, said she liked the deals she found. She mentioned she was taking her daughter out for her first post Thanksgiving dinner shopping adventure.

"You get to go out and have some fun and you always find a deal, or something you were looking for or couldn't find," Washesky said. "And you meet a bunch of nice people in line."

Amy Kuchta, an Ashley resident, was able to cross a few more items off her holiday shopping list. She had advice for anyone looking to take a crack at the bargains on Friday, or during the weekend.

"Be patient," she said. "Don't rush to get your stuff. If it's not there that day they'll have the sales again in two weeks."
