Moosic, Pa. – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) are pitching in for the holidays with a week of giving. From Dec. 16-20, 20% of each day’s SWB Station sales, including on-line purchases, will be donated to that day’s corresponding non-profit recipient. The non-profit lineup is as follows:
Monday, Dec. 16: Marley’s Mission
Tuesday, Dec. 17: Griffin Pond Animal Shelter
Wednesday, Dec. 18: Big Brothers Big Sisters NEPA
Thursday, Dec. 19: Ronald McDonald House of Scranton
Friday, Dec. 20: Bread Basket of NEPA
RailRiders fans can show their support for these organizations and the NEPA community by making their SWB Station purchases during this week. Fans can shop in the store from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday, or visit swbrailriders.com to make their purchases online.
“It is the season of giving,” said RailRiders president/GM Rob Crain. “This week is a great way for the RailRiders and our fans to team up and give back to some very deserving organizations right here in NEPA.”
Each of the organizations benefitting from this program represents a different population in need within our area. Marley’s Mission is a well-known non-profit organization provides equine-based therapy free of charge to children, and their families, who have experienced trauma. Griffin Pond Animal Shelter was established as the Humane Society of Lackawanna County in 1938 to provide shelter for homeless, unwanted, and abused animals. Big Brothers Big Sisters NEPA is a local branch of a nationwide organization that provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better. The Ronald McDonald House of Scranton serves as a home away from home for families with seriously ill children. Finally, the Bread Basket of NEPA assists in stocking food pantries in our area, serving the hungry and less fortunate.
The RailRiders’ 2014 season begins on Thursday, April 3 when the club kicks off a seven-game road trip at Syracuse against the Chiefs (Washington Nationals).The home slate commences a week later on Thursday, April 10 when the Chiefs visit PNC Field for a four-game series and homestand.
