PPL Says Be Mindful about Conserving Energy

The demand for energy increases in the cold.

The demand for electricity increases in the cold and homeowners are being to asked to conserve.. if possible.
 
    PPL is one of many utility companies along the East Coast asking customers to conserve electricity.
    PPL officials say they don't expect any service issues.. but conserving electricity will help ensure adequate power supplies.
 
If you lose power for some reason, PPL says you can report it through their toll free number, 1-800-dial-ppl.

PJM, the independent electricity grid operator for this region, has requested that the public conserve electricity.

Customers should do what they can to conserve electricity - especially from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Set thermostats lower than usual, if health permits.
  • Postpone using major electric appliances such as stoves, dishwashers and clothes dryers until mid-day or after 9 p.m., when the demand for electricity decreases.
  • Turn off electric lights and appliances that you do not need or are not using.
  • Close windows
