Police: Wyoming Valley West High School Teacher Had Sex With Student

Police claim 31-year-old Lauren Harrington-Cooper had sex with a student at Wyoming Valley West High School
Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County - A high school teacher from the Wyoming Valley West School District is facing charges because police believe she had sex with a student.

31-year old, Lauren Harrington-Cooper covered her face and didn't talk to reporters as she was being lead into court for her arraignment Thursday night.

According to court documents she had sex with a male student from Wyoming Valley West High School.
An affidavit indicates that the boy's parents found out their son was having an inappropriate conversation on the free texting website Pinger. That's when they came to school officials to alert them to the problem.
Detectives claim that at one point Harrington-Cooper texted the boys sister saying her brother was "hot".

Police told Eyewitness News that Harrington-Cooper admitted to picking up the boy and driving around and they say that's when the two would have sex.

Investigators aren't sure how long the relationship took place, but said it wasn't for very long.

"We're still going over some things, but it was a short time," Luzerne County Detective Chaz Balogh said.

Harrington-Cooper isn't in jail because was able to post her $25,000 bail. She has a preliminary hearing set for December 26th.
