Pocono Junior Flute Choir

Opportunity for Young Flutists
Young flute players, beginners through grade 8, are invited to join the Pocono Junior Flute Choir. The group, which is sponsored by the Pocono Flute Society, meets every Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 at Fitzmaurice Community Services in Stroudsburg.
The Pocono Junior Flute Choir is directed by Aubrey Parry who graduated from Mansfield University in 2011 with a major in Music Education. The weekly rehearsals use flute choir music to help young flutists develop develop tone, intonation, technique, ensemble playing, and friendships with other young flutists.
In addition to the weekly rehearsals, there is a monthly Master Flutist clinic.  These clinics work on specific areas such as posture, breathing, rhythm, articulation, and tone development. The next clinic will be held on January 26 and is entitled “How to Play Together without Killing Each Other.” The workshop is being led by Lish Lindsey, flute instructor at Wilkes University. Other monthly clinics will focus on posture, breathing, rhythm, articulation, tone development and other topics important to young flutists.
Pocono Junior Flute Choir members are also members of the Pocono Flute Society. They will receive the quarterly newsletter and may participate in performances with the Pocono Flute Choir and at PFS recital programs.
Students may join the junior flute choir at any time. The first rehearsal of the spring semester will be January 12, at 1:00 p.m.
