Penn State fans are anxiously awaiting for a new football coach.
Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County - It's the question on the mind of everyone who follows the Penn State Nittany Lions. Will James Franklin, a former quarterback at East Stroudsburg University, be the next football coach at Penn State?

Fans Eyewitness News spoke with on Thursday night are anxiously awaiting a decision.

"I thought it would be sooner than it has been," Emily Gallagher, a Penn State alumna, said about the coaching search at her former school.

Ever since it was announced that Bill O'Brien was leaving the Nittany Lions for a chance at the National Football League Gallagher has paid close attention to the search for his replacement.

Gallagher is one of the people under the impression that the brass at Penn State have offered the job to former East Stroudsburg University quarterback, and current Vanderbilt head coach, James Franklin.

Ryan Zych, who works as a bartender at beer boys in Wilkes-Barre, is also anxiously awaiting a decision.

"I feel there's a sense of urgency since it's the height of recruiting season," he said. "So, I'd like to see them make a decision fairly soon."

The Penn State coaching carousel was also the topic of conversation when Eyewitness News stopped by Major League Sports Bar in Sugar Notch.

Chris Stasko, who was eating dinner with his family, was another person waiting to hear if Franklin has been named the football coach at Penn State.

"I would hope so," he said. "I would hope they put everything to rest."

If Penn State officials have offered the job to Franklin, Joe Stephanik, from Hanover, hopes he takes the job.

"I'm hoping that they do work out a final deal," he said. "I think right now he's probably their best choice!"
