Penn College Summer Commencement Set for Aug. 10

Commencement set for August 10
A commencement ceremony will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, for nearly 250 students who have petitioned to graduate from Pennsylvania College of Technology after the college’s summer sessions.
The commencement ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.
The student speaker for the ceremony will be Katherine P. Wylezik, of Bernville, who will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in applied health studies: occupational therapy assistant concentration, and an Associate of Applied Science in occupational therapy assistant. A Dean’s List student, Wylezik will receive the President’s Award, presented for leadership and service to the college.
Other honors Wylezik earned in 2013 include a Penn College Award and Student of the Month for March, and she was named one of the college’s Awesome Women Exemplars. She has served as a Residence Life office assistant and a Community Assistant, and she has been a member of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Club, the Off Campus Housing Organization and the Lady Wildcats softball team. She has volunteered her time for a life-skills program at Opportunity House, Reading, and for Meals on Wheels.
During the commencement ceremony, the college will present a Mentorship Award, which recognizes alumni or businesses that have made significant or ongoing contributions to the education and development of Penn College students.
Degrees will be conferred by Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour, accompanied by Steven P. Johnson, a member of the college’s Board of Directors and president and CEO of Susquehanna Health.
