One week after being convicted of corruption of minors, suspended Old Forge police chief Larry Semenza has resigned.

The Old Forge Mayor tells Eyewitness News that Semenza handed in his letter of resignation Wednesday.

She expects borough council to formally accept it at its next meeting.

Last Tuesday, Semenza was convicted of two charges, including corruption of minors, for having inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old girl in 2004.

Because of his conviction, prosecutors said Semenza could no longer be a police officer.
