Newsmakers to Feature Geisinger Transplant Surgery and Gift of Life Organ Donation Program

<P>&nbsp; Organ Transplant Surgery and the Gift of Life Organ donor program will be the topic of this Sunday's Newsmakers Program.&nbsp; </P>

Organ Transplant Surgery and the Gift of Life program will be the focus of this Sunday's Newsmakers on WBRE TV.
Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and the I-team's Andy Mehalshick host the monthly public affairs program.
    The panel will include Dr. Chintalapati Varma, the Director of Geisinger Transplant and Liver Surgery, Diane James, RN, MSN, Manager of the Living Donation Gift of Life Donor Program and
Jeanne Herrmann, Kidney Donor.
The 30 year history of the Geisinger Medical Center Transplant Surgery will be hightlighted. The transplant processes and details of the surgery will be dicussed.  Dr. Varma will talk about the
importance of having this type of procedure available in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.
He will also focus on how the Geisinger's transplant surgery has grown and progressed over the past three decades
  Diane James will talk about the need for donors, and will detail the living donor program
through the Gift of Life program. 
  Jeanne Herrmann, will give insight as a Kidney donor.  She will share her story of how
she decided to donate a kidney and will talk about the process.
The program will provide alot of information on transplant surgery and organ donations.
Newsmakers will air this Sunday, June 26 at 5:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on WBRE TV.  The program
will be re-broadcasted on WBRE TV July 3rd at 5:30 a.m.  Newsmakers will also air on
Saturday July 2nd on WYOU TV at 6 a.m.
