The Officer of Controller in Luzerne County is one of only two that remain elected positions in the new form of government in Luzerne County. Republican Carolee Medico Olenginski touts her more than 25 years in public service and her reputation as a no nonsense elected officials as just some of the reasons she should be elected Tuesday. Medico Olenginski said, "I think the county needs a strong voice in the Controller's office now more than ever. I feel what we have now is not Home Rule but rather no rule. The people in power now are learning as they go along." Medico Olenginski added, "I know how to protect the people's money I have a proven track record." Bednar told Eyewitness News that her 25 years experience in the financial business world and her stint as Conyngham Township Tax Collector make her more than qualified to be Controller. Bednar said, " I think the right candidate has to understand audits and how they work. The county has not acted upon their audits and that is something I will do as a top priority." Bednar added, "I think more than ever this courthouse and county needs someone who can really look at the numbers and know what they mean."
