Health Insurance Marketplace Information Sessions Begin in Wayne County

Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) and the Wayne Library Alliance held the first of seven county-wide programs designed to educate the public on enrollment with the Health Insurance Marketplace.  Certified Application Counselors Laura Long and Chelsea Lucchesi from WMCHC discussed eligibility requirements, documentation needed to create an account as well as enrollment deadlines.
Prior to attending the open forum at the Northern Wayne Community Library, Barbara Passarelli resident of Thompson, PA was feeling frustrated with the process of selecting a health plan, “I wasn’t even going to go through the Marketplace. But they made it seem so easy; I’m going to see what’s available.”  Passarelli stated attending the program “was well worth my time.”  She has already made an appointment to meet with Long and continue through the process which will give her side-by-side comparisons of plans she qualifies for.
Programs are scheduled throughout the library system over the next two weeks as follows:  Wednesday, November 13, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newfoundland Library; Tuesday, November 19, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hawley Library; Wednesday, November 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Honesdale Library and Thursday, November 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hamlin Library.
The services of WMCHC’s Certified Application Counselors are free to anyone.  One-on-one appointments may be made by calling 570-251-6569 or 6554.
